Laser-Cut Flat File

no glue/no screws

FLAT FILE from Jill Allyn Peterson on Vimeo.

I love organization, and for that reason New Year’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. I love going through my various files and planning for the next year — putting records that are over 3 years old in the shredder, noting that I am due for a Tetanus shot, evaluating the diversity of my Roth IRA.

But my New Year’s Day organization/celebration would be even better if I had a filing cabinet I actually liked. Jill Allyn Peterson to the rescue.

Peterson, an ‘09 RISD grad, designed this lasercut flat file which you can put together without any screws or glue. The frame is made from birch veneer plywood and the folders are sewn panels of organic cotton.

I saw it at Model Citizens NYC earlier this year, but Peterson recently uploaded a cute, stop-motion assembly video. Check out her full portfolio HERE.

UPDATE:
You can get one of these at the BLACKMARKET pop-up shop!

It opens this Black Friday 26 November at Dijital Fix in the LES, 9 Clinton Street (btwn. Stanton and Houston) New York, NY 10002. The shop will run through 6 December
