Adornments to Adore

Kyoko Hashimoto turns acrylic jewelry into an artform. Her work pushes the common aesthetics of plastic accessories by layering shapes and combining materials. Hashimoto’s practice is rooted in conceptual art pieces giving her line of wearable jewelry a distinct cutting-edge appeal. The work is beautiful and strange, refined yet cartoonish, nostalgic while still being undeniably contemporary.

Hashimoto was born in Japan, educated in Australia, and recently relocated her studio from Tokyo to Berlin. An exhibition of her work is running at Switzerlands Galerie Caractère until Valentine’s Day.
