Hybrid Parking Only

Off topic but Interesting..

Here is a photo off of Jan Chipchase’sFuturePerfect blog which shows parking bays in this Las Vegas supermarket prioritised for hybrid cars and parents with children. I personally think it is great to see more sustainable design given priority and social benefits. What else could be done to not exactly add incentive, but make it harder NOT to think a little more intelligently about the use of resources.
Here in South Australia disposable plastic shopping bags are now banned with shoppers now either bringing their own reusable bags (cloth, hemp, recycled plastic, pillowcase etc..) or buying a reusable at the checkout for $$. It makes us think ahead, with recycling and reusing becoming the norm, not the exception..

Los Angeles based designer Jang Won Yoon recently showcased a range of outstanding pieces at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair held in New York City. Jang Won Yoon’s work include the Sprint, Janus, and Blade barstool shown above. This lovely angular and faceted style looks great in plastic, but is all the more impressive with the use of solid timber and stainless steel as in the Blade Barstool, where the craftsmanship of it’s construction is evident.

ontwerpduo = fun studio

ont1

Tineke Beunders and Nathan Wierink are ontwerpduo. Former students of the Design Academy Eindhoven, they’re part of the Dutch domination of design right now. Their work is intentionally playful: making a toy out of table, turning a pillow into a game, and having fun with joinery.

Room 222 was conceived as a hotel room just for children, designed with built in invitations for creative interaction. The CNC milled Marbelous table has spiraled supports and a simple maze carved into the legs. There is even a little shelf at the base for the marble box.
