There’s nothing quite like the anticipation of unwrapping a special delivery

We’ve just had a heap of email feedback from Ponoko members, including comments on this previous blog post. Really helpful stuff.

There were 2 major things we heard.

First off, there’s a bunch of success stories. So we approached a few people recently to find out what they are doing and more importantly how they are doing it. Just head over to the Mingle section to check out 2 new featured designers.

Second, we found more than a few people out there who have a fear of flying with Ponoko. What if you spend time and money making something and it doesn’t turn out so good? What if you’re not sure you can get your brilliant idea out of your head and into a design format you can upload and make successfully?

So we’ve come up with an incentive to feel the fear and do it anyway. It’s a zero risk promise that, no matter what you make with us, you’ll be completely delighted when you unwrap that special delivery from us. We’ll guarantee you’ll love it to bits. It will be perfect – exactly what you wanted.

Introducing premium customers and the Yippee! Guarantee
We invite you to apply to be a premium customer. As a premium customer you’ll get the perfect product because it comes packaged with the following tender love and care:

  1. Unlimited one-on-one access to our gurus – they will coach you through any and all design or make questions you may have, no matter how small (or big) they may be.
  2. As much creative input as you want – from simple suggestions of alterations you could make through to a complete suggested re-design enhancing the idea you’ve submitted. You call the shots. We want to make sure you are going to be completely happy when you unwrap your delivery from us.
  3. Unlimited product prototypes until it’s perfect. We’ll make your design and if we think there’s something a little odd, we’ll get in touch and talk it through with you until we get it right. Really right.

And on top of this, our Yippee! Guarantee means that, if you’re not completely delighted with the product we ship to you, we’ll work with you until you are – or we’ll refund your money.

To state this plainly – if you send us a turkey and we don’t catch it, or if you send us something great and we turn it into a dud – either way, we’ll gladly take the blame, pay the consequences and keep working with you until you get the perfect product, or your money back!

Why are we doing this? Because we know you will be amazed with the results – we’re totally convinced you’ll be blown away by being able to hold in your hand something you made with the click of your mouse.

How to become a premium customer
We’re currently finalizing how you can become a premium customer. Barring any last minute difficulties, we plan to release the detailed information about this service at EXACTLY:

12:00 noon Tuesday, July 29th Eastern US time.

That’s 11:00am Central, 10:00am Mountain and 9:00am Pacific.

In a few days – once we’ve got everything ready at this end – we’ll email Ponoko members the direct web link so they can get all the final details the very second we make this service available.

Now we’re not sure how fast this offer is going to sell out, but if you’re keen to make the perfect product with lots of love from our gurus and the no risk Yippee! Guarantee, it may be a good idea to be sitting at your computer and ready to go right when we launch.

That’s because we have to limit the offer to the first 50 premium customers who make a product after the July 29th release date. We’re a tiny team and on top of our usual production demands we can handle only so many ‘high touch’ customers at one time – and to make sure we deliver a premium service we need to keep numbers to a manageable level. It’s just that we’ve never offered this before and so we’re going to play it safe.

In addition, we’ll invite the first 10 premium customers to be insider beta users of a brand spanking new system. It’s a world first we have been working on since 2007 that will blow your mind! Totally!!

So remember, if you’re a Ponoko member, watch your inbox at 12:00pm noon on Tuesday, July 29th Eastern US time for the special instructions on how to become a premium customer (and a beta user if you wanna get in real quick).

(And if you’re not an existing member, you can sign up here to get advance notification.)

Finally, you also asked us how to get a great design ready to make
Well, here are a few ways to come up with great ideas, how to create your own design and how to optimize your design so it works perfectly for Ponoko.

As always, if you have any comments or questions please share them with us here – we’d love to hear from you. Have we got this right – or is there something missing? If you have anything to say, please type a comment below (or send us an email to service [at] ponoko [dot] com).

High five Ponoko! Might I suggest infiltrating the following sites with the above information:

Take it to the people who really need it :)

Crafters on Etsy.com that want to take it to the next level. I’d phone up Etsy and offer up a contest or two :)

Forums like craftster.org where people share their ideas using various techniques new and old.

    along the same lines…

Youtube, outlining the basic steps, concept, pre-visualization, vector, submitting your eps, laser cutting, delivery, assembly, photos, showroom, promotion, selling, shipping, wads of cash

(NB run’s off to post his projects on craftser…)

Ponoko how I love you :)
